Hiking on snow in Finland
Saana was believed to be a sacred mountain - or 'fell' as the mountains are called in Finland - by the Sami people, the indigenous people of the Nordic area. This is a great adventure for beginners. Going uphill and downhill is surprisingly fun as snowshoes float nicely on top of the snow, even on deep snow. It makes sites accessible and brings you to remote nature spots.
The guide will bring you along on a safe and fun tour, including all needed thermal clothing, snowshoes, and poles.
Notice: This tour doesn't go to the top of Saana, 1032 meters above sea level. We stay near the mountain, with continuous stunning views on Saana. Join this experience, starting from the lovely and authentic village of Kilpisjärvi in Finnish Lapland, located just after the border with Norway, with easy access from Tromsø or Rovaniemi via the Arctic Route bus until 31.03.2024.
Included in this adventure:
- Knowledgeable English-speaking guide
- Snowshoe tour (1,5-2 hours)
- Thermal winter suit
- Snowshoe and poles
