Reindeer short sledding and feeding tour departing Tromsø

We meet in Tromsø and take you aboard our comfortable bus to the Sami reindeer farm, located a 30-minute scenic drive from Tromsø in a beautiful valley facing a fjord. On arrival, you will be greeted by a traditional Sami reindeer herding family who has been working with reindeer in this camp for many generations. The guides will get the sled ready and take you around the valley and along the coastline for a short ride of 10-15 minutes**. The reindeer go at a slow and steady pace so you have time to admire and take photos of the Arctic landscape. Afterwards you can grab a bucket full of reindeer food and walk around to feed some of the 300 reindeer scattered around the spacious camp.

Sami reindeer stew and Sami culture

Go inside the gamme (traditional Sami hut) for lunch! We will serve you a traditional Sami reindeer stew (bidos) * cooked over the fire. We will then invite you inside a lavvu (Sami herdsmen’s tent) where a Sami guide will share stories about life as a reindeer herder and perform a joik (traditional Sami song).

Note: The sledding ride is subject to snow conditions (If there is not enough snow, we offer “Reindeer feeding and Sami culture” instead)

*Vegetarian option possible (tomato-based soup)

This adventure includes:
- Scenic transfers (30 min each way) by comfortable coach
- Knowledgeable English-speaking Sami guide
- Traditional Sami meal: bidos (vegetarian option available)
- Hot drinks and snacks
- Storytelling and joik
